CaPa protect your Categorys and Pages
Once a Time was an Plugin, called “Category Access”. David, the programmer of the Plugin “Category Access” Link, did a good thing. Thanks, for what you did, serious!
But, wasn’t enough for myself. The Plugin did to much queries ( Example: for every single category, what should be protect, enter the plugin a record ). If you like to know more, check out the code.
What does this plugin do?
This plugin protect your categorys and pages. You can modifiable the setting for registered user and guest.
Requirements:
This plugin requires minimum WordPress 2.5 and was primarily tested on 2.6.5.
So i recommend you to upgrade to the latest WordPress version.
Pricing and Licensing:
Well, the plugin is GPL.
Why should i use your plugin and not ‘Category Access’?
Is up to you what you use or not. My Plugin got the abilitiy to protect Pages too, ‘CaPa’ enter for every user one record ( not as ‘Category Access’ for every protect category’ ). The queries request is lower ( as every good programmer know: less is better ).
Example:
Protect and showing of 2 Post.
‘Category Acces’ protect the categories and showing 2 Post: 60 queries
‘CaPa’ protect the categories and pages and showing 2 Post: 41 queries
I still try to lower the queries request!
Miscellaneous information:
I still develop. The project gonna so far with a good consience i can put ‘CaPa’ online for download. Should you have problem or find a Bug. Wrote to the last Post at the Category ‘CaPa’.
Installation:
Just click on Link below. The Plugin is host by WordPress. You can find any further information there.
Let the protect begin: CaPa latest version
“You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘)’ at line 1″
Thats the Message i get when i´m not logged in :-/
Thanks for the Info.
This Bug is fixed with the Version 0.5.3
Greetings
Hi,
I installed this plugin, and I can’t figure out how to set category access rights by user – I see how to do it by role, but I need to be able to set a category to only be visible to certain users. Is this possible with this plugin?
Good Morning
You got mail!
Really great plugin, but I’m missing a thing. When I use it together with other roles management plugins which enables to create a new user role – for example Role Scoper or Capabilities manager, these newly created roles are not displayed in the role list by your plugin. (always just the 5 default roles are there) You should make that more dynamic.
Otherwise, thanks for this great plugin!
Thanks for the Thanks
Those Role Manager Plugins violating the WP Code and impliment custom code to work.
The idea behind CaPa is to work with WP Role System & Code ( so, it won’t produce amount of error ).
But i got an idea to handle such Plugins. Further information coming soon ^_^
